Annie Manion

Annie Manion is a media scholar from Southern California who recently completed her doctorate in Critical Studies from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. She has an MA in East Asian Studies also from USC, and a BA in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago. Though her research to date has focused primarily on Japanese animation and popular culture, she has also spent many years studying the cultural history of World War II, the history of film, and the relationship between genre and medium. She is also a huge fan of pulp fiction, creature features, and California’s quintessential cuisine, the hamburger.
