Ruth Joffre

Ruth Joffre is a Bolivian American writer and the author of the story collection Night Beast (2018). Her work has been short-listed for the Creative Capital Awards, long-listed for the Story Prize, and supported by residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Lighthouse Works, and the Arctic Circle. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in more than 100 publications, including Lightspeed, Pleiades, Nightmare, TriQuarterly, Reckoning, Wigleaf, and the anthologies We’re Here: The Best Queer Speculative Fiction 2022 (2023) and 2022 Best of Utopian Speculative Fiction (2023). A graduate of Cornell University and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Ruth served as the 2020–22 prose writer in residence at Hugo House in Seattle. She has been a visiting writer at George Mason University and the University of Washington Bothell.
