Rachel Teukolsky is professor of English at Vanderbilt University. She studies 19th-century British literature, art, media, and culture. Her recent book is Picture World: Image, Aesthetics, and Victorian New Media (Oxford University Press, 2020). It studies the new visual media of the nineteenth century, from mass photography to pictorial war journalism to advertising posters.
