Niloufar Talebi

Niloufar Talebi’s hybrid memoir Self-Portrait in Bloom (2019) is a literary biography with selected translations of Ahmad Shamlou. Its companion opera, Abraham in Flames (2019, co-created with composer Aleksandra Vrebalov), and her TEDx Berkeley talk are based on her encounters with Shamlou. She is the editor/translator of Belonging: New Poetry by Iranians Around the World (North Atlantic Books, 2008). Her theatrical projects include ICARUS/RISE (2007), The Persian Rite of Spring (2010, Los Angeles County Museum of Art), Fire Angels (2011, Carnegie Hall), and other works at Stanford Live and the Kennedy Center.
