Mark Athitakis is a writer and critic whose work has appeared in the Washington Post, Humanities, Virginia Quarterly Review, and many other publications. He is the author of The New Midwest: A Guide to Contemporary Fiction of the Great Lakes, Great Plains, and Rust Belt (2017) and serves on the board of the National Book Critics Circle. He lives in Phoenix.
