Frances Lazare is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Art History at the University of Southern California. Her research — which focuses on community, collaboration, and friendship within the New York School of painters — has been supported by grants from the Terra Foundation for American Art, the New York Public Library, and USC’s Visual Studies Research Institute.
