Alexandra L. Milsom is an assistant professor of English at Hostos Community College (CUNY). She is writing a book about how Catholic Emancipation in Britain and Ireland influenced mass tourism and the nascent guidebook genre in the 19th century. She lives in Brooklyn with her dog, her partner, and her struggling tomato garden.
