LARB is proud to offer educational programming throughout the year. The LARB Publishing Workshop is an intensive five-week summer training program for aspiring publishing professionals with an emphasis on diverse and innovative publishing opportunities. In addition to our annual summer Publishing Workshop, now it is ninth year, we welcome students throughout the year for workshops and courses led by some of our favorite writers on a topics ranging from the art of the personal essay to the craft of criticism and the creative process.

Workshop Fellows work with 50+ industry professionals who are at the top of their fields and leading transformations in traditional and digital publishing. Through lectures, seminars, and practical instruction, Fellows learn the foundations of book and magazine publishing including editing and production, marketing and publicity, art direction, and the legal and business aspects of the industry, as well as special sessions on new media and publishing ethics. The Publishing Workshop also offers skills-based workshops with editors, art directors, web designers, and marketing professionals in specialized tracks for hands-on experience in book and magazine production.
