LARB Holiday Party // Security Launch

    Celebrate the holiday season with LARB, and the launch of the Winter issue of the LARB Quarterly - issue no. 47, Security! We’ll be closing out 2025 with a night of readings from Agnes Borinsky, Maddie Connors, Jean Chen Ho, Hannah Liberman, Tess Pollok, Jeremy Ra, Xuan Juliana Wang and Sarah Yanni.     Agnes Borinsky is a writer, performer, and theater-maker based in Los Angeles. She is the author, most recently, of the play The Trees (2023) and a YA novel, Sasha Masha (2020). She has made work in collaboration with Playwrights Horizons, The Bushwick Starr, Clubbed Thumb – and outside of them, in basements, backyards, circus tents, community centers, and online.  


    Maddie Connors is a stand-up comedian and writer living in Los Angeles. Her work has appeared in places like The New York Times, Bookforum, and Vanity Fair.


    Jean Chen Ho is the author of Fiona and Jane, one of TIME’s 100 Must-Read Books of 2022, longlisted for the Story Prize, and named a Best Book of the Year by NPR, Vulture, Vogue, Oprah Daily, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and Electric Literature. Her fiction, essays, and criticism appear in New York Times Magazine, Sewanee Review, Guernica, The Cut, Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, and elsewhere.


    Hannah Liberman is a writer and editor. Her editorial work at Boston Review has been recognized by PEN America and anthologized in Best American Essays. She teaches Literary Journalism and Fiction at UC, Irvine and lives and works in Los Angeles.


    Tess Pollok is a writer and the editor of Animal Blood Magazine. She lives in New York City and Los Angeles.


    Jeremy Ra was a recipient of the Morton Marcus Poetry Prize. His chapbook Another Way of Loving Death (2023) was published by Moon Tide Press, and his collaborative chapbook, God Is a River Running Down My Palm (2024), was published by Picture Show Press.


    Xuan Juliana Wang is the author of the short story collection Home Remedies, winner of the California Book Award for First Fiction and a finalist for the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize and the New York Public Library Young Lions Award. Her work has appeared in PloughsharesThe New York TimesThe Cut, and Aperture, and has been anthologized in The Best American Nonrequired Reading and The Pushcart Prize Anthology. She lives in Los Angeles, where she teaches creative writing at UCLA. 


    Sarah Yanni’s writing can be found in Mizna, Nat. Brut, Blush Lit, Archway Editions, the Altadena Poetry Review, and others. She is the author of Hard Crush (Wonder Press, 2024) and currently serves as reviews editor for Full Stop.
