Susan Matt is an historian of the emotions, and a faculty member in the Department of History, at Weber State. She’s author of Keeping Up with the Joneses: Envy in American Consumer Society, 1890-1930 (University of Pennsylvania Press) and Homesickness: An American History (Oxford University Press). Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, among other places.
