Maura Brewer is an artist who makes work about the relationship between feminism and capitalism. She makes videos, performances and experimental garments. She is a co-founder of the Rational Dress Society and Arts Research Collective, an alternative art school. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Art in General in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève in Geneva, and the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wein in Vienna, among other places. Her projects have received press coverage in The Paris Review, CBS News, the Guardian, and CBC’s The Current. She is a recipient of the LENS Photography Council Award at LACMA, the Creative Economic Development Fund at CCI, and the Fellowship for Visual Arts at CCF.
