Laurent Dubois is the John L. Nau III Bicentennial Professor in the History & Principles of Democracy at the University of Virginia, as well as the co-director for academic affairs at the UVA’s Democracy Initiative. He is a specialist on the history and culture of the Atlantic world, and his scholarship spans the Caribbean (particularly Haiti), North America, and France.
