John Wriggle

John Wriggle is a musicologist, composer, and performer specializing in jazz and popular music. He has taught at John Jay College, Rutgers University, and The City College of New York (including courses on Duke Ellington); he has also worked in music publishing, record production, and as a film music editor (including the Oscar and Grammy-winning scores of the Lord of the Rings trilogy). He is currently writing a book on Swing Era music arranging.

The Rivera Book Prize aims to provide a platform that showcases the emerging literary talent of the Chicanx/Latinx community, to cultivate the next generation of Chicanx/Latinx writers, and to continue the rich literary memory of Tomás Rivera, Chicano author, poet, activist, and educator.
