Jeffrey Herlihy-Mera is a professor of humanities at the Universidad de Puerto Rico–Mayagüez. In 2022, he was an Obama Fellow at the Obama Institute for Transnational American Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. His fourth book, Decolonizing American Spanish: Eurocentrism and Foreignness in the Imperial Ecosystem, was recently published by the University of Pittsburgh Press.
