Jay S. Kaufman is a professor of epidemiology, biostatistics, and occupational health at McGill University. A former president of the Society for Epidemiologic Research, he is an editor of the journal Epidemiology and co-editor of the textbook Methods in Social Epidemiology (second edition, 2017). His forthcoming book, The Race Variable: How Statistical Practices Reinforce Inequality, will be published by Columbia University Press in December 2025.
