Ellena Basada is a writer and editor from Oregon living in New York City. A 2024 Periplus Fellow and 2019 Fulbright Scholar in Berlin, she has written critically on books and visual culture for BOMB, Bright Wall/Dark Room, High Country News, and Los Angeles Review of Books. Sometimes she writes fiction. Her collaborative feature-length film about Portland youth culture, memory, and the opioid crisis will be released next year. Ellena is the prose editor at Fonograf Editions.
