Elham Hassan

Elham Hassan is a Yemeni writer currently residing in Sana’a. Her work has appeared in international and local medias, from the Guardian to the Yemen Observer, where her articles on women empowerment were honored by the United Nations Population Fund in 2006. Guided by a deep passion for gender equality, human rights, and social justice she authored the 2013 book Women Moan in Silence: Short Stories About Everyday Life of Yemeni Women. She also founded the Yemeni Women Storyteller Club, which encourages her fellow countrywomen young and old to pen and publish their own stories. At present, she is co-writing the forthcoming photo-driven nonfiction book His Weapons Are Unwise: The War in Yemen From the Perspective of Yemeni Women.
