Diane Smith is an award-winning writer and historian who has published four books, including the novel Letters from Yellowstone (1999) and, most recently, a history of wildlife conservation, Yellowstone and the Smithsonian: Centers of Wildlife Conservation (2017). Her most recent novel, Butte America, is in press at Bison Books. She is currently writing a group portrait of Montana writers in the 1970s. She lives in Missoula.
