Carmen E. Lamas is an associate professor of English and American studies at the University of Virginia. She is the author of The Latino Continuum and the Nineteenth-Century Americas: Literature, Translation, and Historiography (Oxford University Press, 2021). She is also a co-founder of the Latina/o Studies Association, an academic organization that brings together scholars, artists, students, and activists in the study of Latinx concerns.
