Carla Marcantonio is an associate professor of film, TV, and media studies at Loyola Marymount University. She is the author of Global Melodrama: Nation, Body, and History in Contemporary Film (Palgrave, 2015). She formerly served as book editor and contributing editor at Film Quarterly. Her work on melodrama and the films of Pedro Almodóvar has appeared in publications such as Film Quarterly, Cinéaste, Women & Performance, and Social Text. She is also Pedro Almodóvar’s US-based English-language interpreter.
