Angilee Shah is a journalist with Public Radio International, working in digital media on global news. She is the co-editor (with Jeffrey Wasserstrom) of Chinese Characters and consulting editor to the Journal of Asian Studies. She has spent most of her career writing about politics and culture, particularly as they collide with Asia, and blogs at angileeshah.com.

The Rivera Book Prize aims to provide a platform that showcases the emerging literary talent of the Chicanx/Latinx community, to cultivate the next generation of Chicanx/Latinx writers, and to continue the rich literary memory of Tomás Rivera, Chicano author, poet, activist, and educator.
