Alan Barenberg is an associate professor of history at Texas Tech University and the author of The Gulag: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2024) and Gulag Town, Company Town: Forced Labor and its Legacy in Vorkuta (Yale University Press, 2014). His research focuses on the history and legacy of forced labor in the USSR.
