LARB Internships


Los Angeles Review of Books offers internships every fall, spring, and summer, for undergraduate students in their junior or senior year.


LARB interns gain real-world, hands-on magazine work experience. This program is designed to train students for careers in editing and copyediting, publicity, marketing, fundraising, educational and public programming, and/or social media on behalf of a major magazine and literary arts nonprofit.

We are seeking interns to fill the following roles for Spring 2026:


Copydesk Intern

The copydesk intern will assist the copydesk chief with copyediting LARB online articles and assembling pages in the website's backend. The intern will learn skills in proofreading, fact-checking, line editing, and navigating content management systems. In-person, remote, or hybrid availability required for 10-15 hours per week.


Membership and Development Intern

The membership and development intern will assist with the planning, marketing, and execution of the LARB membership program and fundraising campaigns. The intern will learn skills in marketing, membership programs, fundraising, grant writing, and communication. In-person availability is preferred for 10-15 hours per week.


Social Media Intern

The social media intern will assist in the planning, drafting, and execution of all LARB social media. The intern will learn skills in social media copywriting, social and site analytics, and developing editorial, fundraising, and event campaigns. In-person or remote, 10-15 hours per week.


Public Programs Intern

The programming intern will assist with the planning, marketing, and execution of the LARB event calendar especially LITLIT, LARB's annual literary festival as well as launch parties, fundraiser dinners, and partner events. The intern will learn the nuts and bolts of event planning, marketing, fundraising, and communication. In-person availability is required; 15 hours a week with occasional weekends and nights. Ability to lift 30 pounds or more and stand for long periods of time also required.


Art of Writing - UC Berkeley Internship

Open to UC Berkeley students, this internship is supported by Art of Writing to broaden students' experiences in the literary arts. In addition to the intern's duties at LARB, the intern will do regular check-ins with AoW and LARB staff to help with career development.


This intern will help to produce the LARB Publishing Workshop, a program with a mission to assist people from diverse backgrounds start publishing careers. As a two semester internship, the intern will help LARB staff plan the program in the spring. In the summer, the intern will help assist during the intensive workshop from June 22 to July 24. The intern will work closely with Fellows and guest speakers from across the publishing industry.
