Hany Rashed
A self-taught artist, Hany Rashed was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1970. From 1994 to 2004, he trained at the atelier of the prominent Egyptian artist Mohamed Abla. Experimenting with a wide range of techniques, Rashed continuously reinvents himself and his work. His predilection for the use of media images pushes the audience to recognize the damage caused by excessive exposure to Western media and highlights the depersonalization of the individual. Since the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, he documented changes in visual culture on the popular page Contemporary Art. He has exhibited 12 shows at Cairo’s Mashrabia Gallery, most recently “The Last Farewell.”
