<h4>Grant Farred, a native of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa">South Africa</a>, is a professor of Africana Studies at <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornell_University">Cornell University</a>. He has previously taught at <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williams_College">Williams College</a>, the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Michigan">University of Michigan</a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_University">Duke University</a>. He has written several books and served for eight years as editor of <em>South Atlantic Quarterly</em>.</h4>
