Omar Sakr

Omar Sakr is an Arab Australian poet, the son of Lebanese and Turkish Muslim migrants, born and raised in Western Sydney. He is the author of These Wild Houses (Cordite, 2017) and most recently The Lost Arabs (UQP, 2019), which has been shortlisted for the Judith Wright Calanthe Award, the John Bray Poetry Award, and the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. He received the Edward Stanley Award for Poetry in 2019. The Lost Arabs is out now in the US through Andrews McMeel (2020).
