Michael Bycroft

Michael Bycroft is assistant professor of the History of Science and Technology at the University of Warwick, UK. He is a historian of early modern Europe with a particular interest in France, the Enlightenment, and the physical sciences. He is writing a history of the science of precious stones. More broadly, he is interested in the way people reason about matters of value. He is the editor, with Sven Dupré, of Gems in the Early Modern World: Materials, Knowledge and Global Trade, 1450-1800 (2019).
