Maryam Zar

Maryam Zar is a City Commissioner on the Commission on the Status of Women. She is an Iranian–born American and former Middle East Correspondent based in Iran for GMR and MEED in the 1990s. She is the Founder of Womenfound as well as the Chair of the Pacific Palisades Community Council, Vice-Chair of the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils (WRAC), founding Chair of the Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness and an elected Assembly Delegate. In 2016, she was recognized by LA County Supervisor, Sheila Keuhl, as Volunteer of the Year for the 3rd District and named LAFD Honorary Fire Chief. In 2010, Maryam Founded Womenfound, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about the plight of women in underdeveloped parts of the world, as well as raising money for charities and foundations that help them. She is mother to 3 as well as a wife, daughter, sister and humanitarian. She is active in her community and works closely with local officials on matters of community interest. She is a regular commentator on a wide range of issues.
