Alexis Levitin

Alexis Levitin, a professor of English at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, translates works from Portugal, Brazil, and Ecuador. His 40 books of translation include Clarice Lispector’s Soulstorm and Eugénio de Andrade’s Forbidden Words, both from New Directions Publishing. In 2009, he edited Brazil: A Traveler’s Literary Companion (Whereabouts Press).
