Lisa Alvarez

Lisa Alvarez’s prose and poetry have mostly recently appeared in Faultline, Huizache, Los Angeles Times, Santa Monica Review, Truthdig, what rough beast, Zocalo Public Square and in the anthologies Sudden Fiction Latino: Short-Short Stories from the United States and Latin America (Norton) and Only Light Can Do That: 100 Post-election Poems, Stories and Essays(PEN Center USA). With Andrew Tonkovich, she co-edited the anthology, Orange County: A Literary Field Guide (Heyday). She earned an MFA in fiction from UC Irvine and is a professor of English at Irvine Valley College. In the summers she co-directs the Writers Workshops at the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley.
