Lawrence Christon is a former Los Angeles Times staff writer who has written widely on culture and the arts. He was an instructor with "Operation Homecoming," a National Endowment for the Arts program designed to help Iraq war veterans write their memoirs under the tutelage of a team The New Yorker called "among the most distinguished writers, journalists and historians in the nation."
