Sarah Abrevaya Stein is a professor of history at UCLA, where she holds the Maurice Amado Chair in Sephardic Studies and directs the Alan D. Leve Center for Jewish Studies. She is the author or editor of numerous books, including&nbsp;Plumes: Ostrich Feathers, Jews, and a Lost World of Global Commerce&nbsp;(2008),&nbsp;Extraterritorial Dreams: European Citizenship, Sephardi Jews, and the Ottoman Twentieth Century&nbsp;(2016), and&nbsp;Family Papers: A Sephardic Journey Through the Twentieth Century&nbsp;(2019). She lives with her family in Santa Monica.
