Suzanne Fagence Cooper is the author of To See Clearly: Why Ruskin Matters, Effie: The Passionate Lives of Effie Gray, John Ruskin and John Everett Millais, and other works. She is a former curator of the Victorian collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum and is an Honorary Visiting Fellow at the University of York.

The Rivera Book Prize aims to provide a platform that showcases the emerging literary talent of the Chicanx/Latinx community, to cultivate the next generation of Chicanx/Latinx writers, and to continue the rich literary memory of Tomás Rivera, Chicano author, poet, activist, and educator.
