Marianna Yarovskaya

Marianna Yarovskaya is an award-winning filmmaker whose latest is Women of the Gulag (2018). The daughter of a theater director/playwright and a rocket scientist, Yarovskaya grew up in Moscow, Russia and holds a MFA in Film/TV Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and an MA from Moscow State University.

The Rivera Book Prize aims to provide a platform that showcases the emerging literary talent of the Chicanx/Latinx community, to cultivate the next generation of Chicanx/Latinx writers, and to continue the rich literary memory of Tomás Rivera, Chicano author, poet, activist, and educator.
