María Gainza is an Argentinian journalist and author. She has been a correspondent for The New York Times and for ARTnews, and has contributed to Artforum, The Buenos Aires Review, and Radar. She is the author of Textos elegidos (Selected Texts, 2011), a collection of her notes and essays on contemporary art, and the novel Optic Nerve (2019; published in Spanish in 2014). She has another novel, La Luz Negra, that came out in 2018.
