Lauren Berlant teaches at the University of Chicago. Her most recent books are Sex, or the Unbearable (with Lee Edelman, 2014), Desire/Love (2012), and Cruel Optimism (2011). She is currently working on affects like inconvenience and humorlessness, and in 2019 will publish The Hundreds (Duke University Press), co-written with the anthropologist Kathleen Stewart.
