Jean-Marie Straub (b. 1933) made over 20 films between 1963 and 2006 with Danièle Huillet (1936–2006), all of them based on, or responding to, material in other genres (poetry, music, letters) or other films. Among their best-known works are Mosesund Aron (1975), Fortini/Cani (1976), From the Clouds to the Resistance (1979), and Sicilia! (1999).
