David Lida is the author of four books, including the very well received travel narrative First Stop in the New World (Riverhead, 2009). He has been a journalist for more than 20 years, principally in the United States and Mexico, but also for magazines in England, Canada, and Peru. He is based in Mexico City. When he is not writing, he works as a mitigation specialist for lawyers in the United States who defend Latin Americans that are facing the death penalty. In 2016, his first novel, One Life, appeared simultaneously in the U.S. (Unnamed Press) in English, and in Mexico (Tusquets), translated into Spanish by Fernanda Melchor.
