Lodos Gallery: Buildings
Lodos Gallery is pleased to present Buildings, is the latest exhibition at Lodos Gallery in Mexico City. Buildings is an exhibition of works that look into buildings as physical structures as well as cognitive and immaterial processes and features works by Helke Baylre, Ghislaine Leung, Diego Salvador Rios, Michael Smith, Lewis Teague Wright, and Bernadette Corporation, Claire Fontaine & Reena Spaulings. The works included in the exhibition can consider buildings as places of development, production and educational constructs. Development can be understood in terms of land and property, the same that can generate displacement and gentrification. As a place of development, a building can be identified as a school or an institution. Buildings are also presented as landmarks of value, speculation, ownership, identity and location. As the landmarks that stand as the edifices, meeting points and containers they are, which can create a sense of presence and belonging. Buildings also stand in as processes of ideological, physical, playful and parodical constructions, the cognitive-constructions that can conduce to buildings, that contrary to general assumptions, belong to no one. The show runs until September 21, 2019.
