Charles L. Ponce De Leon

Born and raised in Palo Alto, California, Charles L. Ponce de Leon earned a PhD in History from Rutgers University before teaching at Princeton University and Purchase College, a branch of the State University of New York. In 2008, he moved back to the West Coast to begin teaching at CSU Long Beach, where he serves as a professor of History and American Studies. His fields of expertise include mass media, popular culture, American intellectual life, and modern US political culture. His list of published work includes books on the origins of celebrity in the United States, the life of Elvis Presley, and a history of television news in the United States.
