Jeff Cowen is an American art photographer based in Berlin who is best known for his collages and photo murals. He worked as an assistant for master American photographers Larry Clark from 1988–1990, and for Ralph Gibson from 1990-1992. In recent years he has had solo shows in Berlin, Paris, Oslo, Köln, Moscow, Basel, Munich, Madrid, Miami, Barcelona, and New York. Here he is interviewed by Michael Kurcfeld for LARB's ongoing series, produced by Kurcfeld, on contemporary photography.
