Rivka Galchen

Rivka Galchen is a Canadian-American writer. Her first novel, Atmospheric Disturbances, was published in 2008, has been translated into over 20 languages, and was awarded the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing. American Innovations is her second book. She received her MD with a focus in psychiatry from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and completed her master of fine arts at Columbia University, where she was a Robert Bingham Fellow. In 2006 she was awarded a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award. She now lives in New York City.
