Torie Rose DeGhett is a freelance writer and blogger whose work has appeared in The Guardian, Guernica, Jadaliyya and AlterNet. Lots of her recent work has focused on the political role of music in the Middle East and North Africa. A selection of her research and translations of protest songs from the 2011 revolutions in those regions were published in a McSweeney's/Byliner publication titled Now That We Have Tasted Hope.
