Gerry Canavan completed his dissertation “Theories of Everything: Science Fiction, Totality, and Empire in the Twentieth Century” in Duke University’s Graduate Program in Literature in Spring 2012 under the co-direction of Fredric Jameson and Priscilla Wald. He is the co-editor of special issues of American Literature and Polygraph on “speculative fiction” and “ecology and ideology,” respectively, and is currently editing an anthology titled Green Planets: Ecology and Science Fiction with Kim Stanley Robinson. In Fall 2012, he joined the English Department at Marquette University, teaching twentieth- and twenty-first-century literature and culture.
